Exam Season

Having experience years of sitting exams, I for one know how stressful and suffocating the run up to them can be. With this experience, however, has meant i've learnt some tips to remain focused and keep my energy levels up.

Firstly: Move!

You do not have to be a gym bunny, though it is a great way to relieve stress, but movement is so important. It maintains blood flow around your body and supplies your brain with lots of oxygen. I have a routine of working for 50 minutes with a 10minute break in-between. In this 10 minute break I love to catch up with the usual, instagram and twitter, but I also love to do 10 star jumps, mountain climbers and burpees. It gets my heart pumping and stops my brain going to sleep. It's a tip I swear by!

Secondly: Goodness!

Feeding your body with goodness is a recipe for success. I start most days with a green smoothie or juice, giving my body an instant chlorophyll boost which is great for alkalizing the body. For me, I instantly feel energized and awake. To work at your optimum level, you need to feed your brain with lots of goodness! And as far as food goes, healthy fats are great for this. They're found in plant based food such as pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, avocados and coconut. For lots of delicious with these foods in i highly recommend Ella Woodward's blog - Deliciously Ella.

Thirdly: Balance!

You'd be a fool to work 24/7 with no enjoyment in-between. Make time to do things you love, whether it be spending time with friends or going shopping, it gives your mind a well needed break. This also applies to rest, sleep is important for energy and concentration so getting a good amount of sleep is so important.

Boiled Egg and Asparagus

It has reached that time of the year again and we are well into exam season now. Which for most people means that its heads down in the books and chained to the desk. Which would also mean that when it comes to food, the quickest and easiest meal rules. But feeding your body with goodness is so important to keep up energy levels and maintain concentration. So i've come
up with the simplest, most delicious lunch to keep your hunger at bay. I hope you love this recipe as much as I do!

Ingredients:

A handful of asparagus
2 Fresh eggs
A teaspoon of coconut oil
A pinch of salt
Teaspoon of chili flakes

Simply bring a pan of water to the boil, once the water is ready place the eggs in carefully. Whilst at the same time, set your timer for 5 minutes if you like them runny or 7 and a half for semi runny.

Whilst the timer is ticking away, place your coconut oil into the saucepan and allow to melt. Once the oil has warmed through place your asparagus in for 3 minutes. At the three minute mark place your chili flakes into the pan with the asparagus and cook for one more minute.

Once the eggs are done, place them into an egg cup, tap the top off and enjoy!

Monday Inspiration

The past month, and the upcoming one, for me has consisted of my head in a text book and chained to my desk. You guessed it  - exam season! It is so easy to lose motivation doing the same thing day in and day out. So today I wanted to share with you a quote of inspiration to have at the back of your mind and hopefully it will lift your spirits.

"Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time" - Thomas Edison

I hope you have a beautiful monday! x
